Our group the ZB's (check out the users page on this website) now has a full time drummer using Roland electronic drums and this is working great. Although we have lots of drums and percussion already on our very full backing tracks (we have over 300), its like having two drummers working together. We had to redo a few tracks to minimize some 'busy' percussion parts but that's about it. Our guy has much click track/studio experience so it was not a big deal and he's having a ball doing this. (We don't use click tracks, the drummer listens to the back tracks and knows them well) We made a hard requirement to do the electronic drum thing because it really provides flexiblilty to blend with the backing tracks from a drum kit selection and drum volume point of view. It allows him to be creative on how he adds to the exisiting parts. We found that the addition of a live drummer really raises the 'excitement factor' from the perspective of how we perform before an audience and the audience seems to react better when they see that dude 'beatin' on them skins'. The live drummer addition has also helped us obtain more bookings since some potential clients now feel they are getting a 'whole band' instead of just two dudes doin' guitars. Anybody else doing SP with a drummer? Very Happy

Our drummer(s) use an earpiece and play to click track wav files.
In fact, they say now they hate to play without the clicks. It has worked
great for us. I'm not sure how many full bands us SPSC but we have been for nearly 3 years... controls lights and controls my TC Helicon. This is great when every song has different vocal effects.
